Delete your account and data
You can ask us to delete your Berulo App account and the personal data held about you at any time. This page explains how to ask, what gets removed, and what stays.
How to make the request
Send an email to info@berulo.org with the subject “Delete my Berulo account”, from the email address on your account, and include:
- 1Your username, or the phone number you sign in with.
- 2Your role and your school, sector or district.
- 3Whether you want the whole account deleted, or only your face verification data removed.
You may also call (+250) 788 325 252. We confirm the request is genuinely yours before acting on it, then reply when it is done.
How long it takes
We acknowledge every request within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days. Backups holding a copy are overwritten on their own cycle, within 90 days.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in credentials.
- Your name, username, email address and phone number.
- Your registered face descriptor, and the location readings attached to your own attendance.
- Your posts, comments, chat messages and quiz or Brain Battle history.
- Your profile photograph, if you uploaded one.
What we keep, and why
School and institutional records
Attendance registers, inspection reports, remedial and deliberation records belong to the school or authority you worked for, not to your personal account. They stay in the institution's records, with your name replaced by a reference where the law allows it.
Records the law requires
Where Rwandan law or your institution's own mandate requires an education record to be retained for a fixed period, we keep it for that period and no longer.
Removing face data only
You do not have to close your account to stop using face verification. Ask us to remove your face descriptor and it is deleted from our servers; your account, your classes and your records are untouched. Self-attendance by face stops working until you register again. You can also withdraw the camera permission in your phone's settings at any time — no photograph of you is stored either way.
